Imagery is for the dancer who wants to take their training up a notch with a higher level of commitment to the craft. Imagery members develop skills in teamwork, discipline, confidence, integrity, leadership, artistry, and of course technical skills. First and foremost, Imagery is ONE team no matter the age or experience of the dancer, and each dancer is expected to work with their teammates with the same dedication they give to their personal practice. We teach team members how to have a Growth Mindset through mindfulness activities and training so that they can learn to approach life with a curious, more positive outlook that will allow them to see challenges as opportunities for growth. We also recognize that kids have lives outside of dance, and therefore try to work with other schedules if possible and known in advance, so that they can be well-rounded and happy dancers eager to attend classes. We also strongly believe in maintaining the integrity of our dancers, not only in character, but also in protecting their safety through age-appropriate dance moves, music, and costuming. We carefully select conventions and competitions that have a stellar reputation for youth safety and reflect shared values.

Imagery members typically include dancers ages 9 and up; however, periodically we may invite younger dancers to participate. Dancers ages 6-9 may be invited to be a part of our Minis Competition Team. Dancers ages 9 and up interested in being a part of Imagery are required to participate in a multi-day audition process consisting of a choreography learning day and an audition day. All auditioning dancers are required to learn multiple genres of dance and they may not “opt out” of any single genre for auditions. However, you select the maximum number of dances you wish to be selected for in order to control the costs you will incur. All fees are communicated prior to final selections through a contract and parent meeting the first day of auditions. Auditions are typically held in August before the full season starts. After auditions, the dancer will receive correspondence indicating if they have been accepted into Imagery.

During the full season, Imagery members are required to attend the weekly choreography class for the piece(s) they are selected for and additional weekly classes as follows:

Minis Team - one class of their choosing

Imagery ages 9-10 - ballet, jazz, tap, and technique class (Mondays and Thursdays)

Imagery ages 11+ - ballet, jazz, tap, 2 technique, strength/conditioning/flexibility, and mindfullness (Mondays and Thursdays)

We are highly decorated and known for our unique choreography, musicality and artistry. We have been recognized at competitions many times for outstanding choreography, and received the ADCC studio of the year award at different competitions. Imagery is for the more serious dancer wanting to hone their skills individually and as part of a team of diversely talented dancers. Our team attends 2 conventions, 3 regional competitions, and a national competition each year. We make every effort to support well-rounded dancers who have outside activities such as band, choir, and other sports activities. We want dancers to not feel trapped by dance and experience life as a kid. However, it is expected that scheduled Imagery team classes and events take priority as much as possible aside from school grade-based activities. It must be recognized that if not everyone is in attendance for rehearsals it will affect the team as a whole, and that sacrifices from each side is necessary. All conflicting schedules must be communicated as soon as known, and a plan created. Communication is key!

Imagery auditions for the 2023-24 dance season will be held August 21st and 22nd, 2023. In addition, dancers wishing to audition must take Ballet, Strength/Conditioning and Technique classes during our summer session to be eligible for the audition days. Two absences in summer classes are allowed. After that, makeups are required. We are willing to work with individuals that are not able to meet this because of unavoidable circumstances or those that are new to the studio and wish to audition. Please contact us for details.

Imagery members must commit to a Code of Conduct. All team members must conduct themselves as representatives of Fusion Dance Center, consistent with studio rules, and in a manner that reflects the highest standards. Our team members are expected to be role models both in and out of the studio. We want all team members to find satisfaction and joy in their work and discover their unique talents; however, this is not a recreational experience and the expectations are high, but ultimately rewarding!
